Seniors Steppin’ Out is an innovative program which enables seniors with intellectual and developmental disabilities to transition from the workplace and work-related activities to retirement and senior living activities. Individuals at least 55 years old participate in various community-based activities each weekday with the support of a senior activity coach.

The Arc Montgomery County focuses on maximizing existing community resources and supports to provide an inclusive experience. Seniors Steppin’ Out facilitates connections with seniors without disabilities, which is key to the program's success.  Participants also take classes through the Montgomery County Department of Recreation and enjoy day trips to various special events.

Door-to-door transportation allows senior participants of all ages and abilities to participate fully in these activities. The activities offered through Seniors Steppin’ Out are designed to be accessible for individuals living on fixed incomes.

Participants must apply to the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration for eligibility and funding approval.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30 am-3:30 pm
