Respite Services of Montgomery County is a collaborative effort of The Arc Montgomery County and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
Respite Services provides short-term physical and emotional relief to families caring for:
• Frail senior citizens
• Adults with functional disabilities (limited activities of daily living which require ongoing support like cancer, MS, traumatic brain injury, advanced diabetes)
• Children or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Children with challenging behaviors
Respite care affords family members the opportunity to enjoy a period of restorative relief and rest from their caregiving duties. Respite services are an important part of the overall support system families need to keep loved ones at home.
Families can choose from many respite care venues, including the family home, community and recreational program facilities, camps and adult day programs for persons with disabilities.
