How To Help

John Gould Legacy Society

The John Gould Legacy Society is a membership group founded in 2022 that recognizes the long-term generosity of friends and supporters of The Arc Montgomery County who have established planned gifts, including listing our organization as a beneficiary in their wills.  Planned gifts are a profound expression of support as they continue to further our mission now and in the future.

John Gould, who passed away in 2021, made many significant and meaningful contributions to The Arc Montgomery County over the years, including his service as a board member.  He was also a philanthropist and oriented to our organization’s future, leaving a generous legacy gift to our organization in the form of a bequest.

About Planned Giving
Planned gifts help to further our mission of connecting people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives–now and in the future.  Although many advances have been made in support of our cause, the needs of this organization and the people we support will always be there.

Joining the John Gould Legacy Society
Securing a planned gift to The Arc Montgomery County makes you eligible to join the John Gould Legacy Society.  The most common planned gift is a bequest, a gift made in the future through a will.  Other gifts that may qualify for membership include gift annuities, contributions of retirement assets, securities or real estate, living trusts, as well as other gifts to be received in the future.

Planned gifts provide future support to the organization, but they also deliver benefits to donors in the present moment, including name recognition in John Gould Legacy Society materials, a framed certificate of membership, Society events, and a John Gould Legacy Society momento.

In some cases, there can be tax benefits.  Tax benefits should be discussed with your attorney or tax advisor.  The Arc Montgomery County cannot offer tax advice.
