Each division/department within The Arc Montgomery County has an inclement weather policy based upon the nature of the work performed and the services provided, as outlined below. We may need to make a different decision from what is listed here, depending on conditions at a specific program site/location, or the need to provide uninterrupted support services.
Administration (including Communications & Outreach, Engagement, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Respite Coordination, & Strategic Initiatives) follows the schedule of the Federal Government for weather-related closing, late openings, and early dismissals.
- When the Federal Government announces any delayed opening, The Arc’s headquarters will open at 10 am.
- If the Federal Government is closed, employees will telecommute to ensure our operations continue uninterrupted.
- In-Person training classes will begin at 10 am when the Federal Government announces any delayed opening and will be cancelled and rescheduled if the Federal Government is closed.
Children & Youth Services programs follow the schedule of Montgomery County Public Schools for weather-related closing, late openings, and early dismissals. Notifications are also shared with families through Bloomz.
- C&YS employees may be reassigned to another worksite.
Employment & Meaningful Day Services programs follows the schedule of the Federal Government for weather-related closing, late openings, and early dismissals.
- When the Federal Government announces any delayed opening, The Arc’s E&MDS programs will open at 10 am.
- If the Federal Government is closed, decisions regarding provision of support services at an employer’s location will be made on a case-by-case basis.
- E&MDS employees whose regular worksite is closed will be reassigned to another worksite.
Community Living operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week during inclement weather due to the nature of supports provided.
Personal Supports will operate as scheduled unless the person supported requests a change or staff are not available to provide support as scheduled.
Urban Thrift follows the schedule of the Federal Government for weather-related closing, late openings, and early dismissals.
